Kurt Cobain

My last artist is another influence for the guitar and is a hero, many know him because of his music, my last artist is Kurt Cobain.

And last but not least, Kurt Donald Cobain, born on the 20th of February 1967 in Aberdeen, Washington. When he was a young boy Kurt was known as a happy while sensitive and caring child and his artistic side began to show at a very early age alongside with his music side. At the age of eight Kurt's parents divorced, he became defiant and withdrawn from the divorce, in his teenage years Kurt was very rebellious against his family, Kurt dropped out of school during his Sophomore year because he did not have enough credit to graduate, his family gave him a choice, get employed or leave, a week later he came home to find his mother packed his stuff into boxes forcing him to move into his friends apartment before finding his own. But in 1985 it all changed when Kurt and Krist Novoselic formed Nirvana, they finally found Dave Grohl to play on drums, making their second album 'Nevermind' a chart topper including the number one song 'Smells Like Teen Spirit', Nirvana was climbing their way to success. In 1990 Kurt met Courtney Love in a nightclub in Portland both of them shared their love for music, however Kurt kept cutting off the phone calls Courtney made to him and ignored her advances because he didnt know if he wanted a relationship. In the Autum of 1991 Kurt and Courtney were bonded through drug use and often together most of their time. 1992 Kurt found out Courtney was pregnant with his child and the couple married on the 24th February 1992 at Waikiki Beach in Hawaii. After Frances Bean Cobain was born Kurt got taken to court by the child services because of his drug problem, Frances was given to Jamie, Kurt's sister untill the couple gained custody. During his final years, Kurt was a herion addict he suffered from depression and illness he was much worse than when we started as he stopped eating, leaving Courtney to look after him and Frances, and soon enough it got the best of him along with the pressure from the media, on April 8th 1994 Kurt was found in his home in Seattle from an inflicted shotgun wound to the head. Leaving Courtney with Frances, most media say there was a note left for Frances saying she would be better off without him, but no proof of this note has been found, Kurt is still very known around the world and almost every band is influenced by Nirvana such as David Grohl who fronts Foo Fighters keeps the fans of Nirvana with him. Most of Kurt's music is still played all over the world on radio stations such as Kerrang! and posters of the beloved idol are still handed out through magazines. Nirvana was one of the top bands of the 80's and 90's, he is still now in the hall of fame in the Kerrang! awards alongside many other idols and heroes of the generations of the past and present.

Synyster Gates

I have many artists that I enjoy watching and listening to, but there are three main artists that I have always adored since I first listened to music and have also influenced me for the guitar. Here is my first Artist. This first musician has always been one of my idols, its Synyster Gates/ Brian Haner from Avenged Sevenfold.

Avenged Sevenfold Kerrang! interview after James' passing.
Avenged Sevenfold with James.

My first artist is Brain Elwin Haner Jr, also known as Synyster Gates the lead guitarist for a band called Avenged Sevenfold, Brian was born on the July 7 1981 making him 28 years old. He grew up in Lakewood but moved to Huntington Beach, California and attended Ocean View High School where he met James Owen Sulliven (Avenged Sevenfold's drummer) and the two became best friends. Brian studied jazz guitar at the Music Institute in Hollywood for six months before getting a call from James asking to join Avenged Sevenfold, Brian accepted and dropped his education as a studio musican and joined James, Matt (Vocals) Zack Baker (Guitar) and John Seward (Bass), the band took on the music industry releasing a debut album "Sounding the Seventh Trumpet" and then later released "Waking the Fallen", "City Of Evil" and "Avenged Sevenfold", the band then went on to headline festivals and concerts across the world including headlining the Download festival and the very first Sonisphere festival. Sortly after touring they announced to be writing a new album, the album was completed in december and ready for recording, but it was put on hold after a terrible passing of their drummer James, the band split up for three months after buring their beloved friend but got back together to release the album, it was titled "Nightmare" and Brian wrote "So Far Away" in honor of James included with a heart felt solo that puts a smile to the band and fans faces. Brian married his wife Michelle shortly after James' death where they had a minute silence for the best man that never showed up. Brian is also Number four in the top ten guitarists. The band are currently on tour with Stone Sour and be visiting the U.K on Halloween.

Introducing Me :)

Well to start of, I'm Kirbie Jane Mennie, mainly known as Kirbie. I am 16 years old and just finished my GCSE's and now in Sixth Form in my school in Hertfordshire called Goffs School taking English Lit, Media, Photography and Business single. I'm pretty laid back I play guitar and a bit of keyboard, now taking up the drums during my 2nd year at The Music Lab, I play all different kind of music on my guitar but I mainly play rock music at concerts I perform at, me and my band do covers of 30 Seconds to Mars, Paramore, Slipknot, Avenged Sevenfold and many more, I take the role of lead guitar and backing vocals. I also do the photography for my friends Brass band called Furious Music. After Sixth Form I want to go off to University in Newport in Wales to study Media or Photography or the London Royal College of Fashion to study photography as I want a career in a music magazine such as Kerrang! but if I do not get into a magazine business then I would like to be a free lance Music Photographer like my idol Paul Harries. I did two weeks work expierence at the You Mag for the Daily Mail and I had a very good time going round all the different desks and I became really fond of photos, art and editors. I go to alot of concerts and festivals, my first festival was the Download festival in Donnington Park I have also been to a few other festivals such as Underage and T In The Park. I write stories in my spare time when I have no work to do, I currently finished one called The Avenger and thinking about creating a second part to the story, I read a lot to I love fan-fiction stories people write on the internet but also I love fantasy, horror, romance and crime stories, wether its a story off a website someone wrote or its an actual book from a bookstore.

I am very passionate about Media because it is something I think is completely different from any other career, and it also can be looked at in all different types such as advertising, film and development, journalism and reviews. I first became fond of Media when I was choosing my subjects for year 10 to take on my GCSE's we firstly did contrasting music videos and then we created our own advert for a perfume, which I found very interesting because I could use my creative side, I'm a very creative person and always writing stories so I found it very easy to come up with my ideas. But I want to mix my media with my music such as review concerts or take the photos, it would be a very interesting career because I'll be mixing my two passions together.
